Abstract:This study evaluates the impact of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority's (FAMA) Direct Sales Programmes on small agricultural producers in Malaysia. FAMA's initiatives aim to bypass intermediaries in the agricultural supply chain, offering producers direct access to consumers, thereby potentially improving profitability and market stability. Despite the strategic importance of these programmes, comprehensive analysis of their effectiveness, especially in terms of long-term economic resilience and market expansion, is lacking. This research fills this gap by examining not only the economic outcomes but also the changes in agricultural practices and vendor satisfaction. Utilising a combination of surveys and interviews across multiple regions in Malaysia, this study provides a comprehensive analysis of how these programmes affect the livelihoods of small agricultural producers. The findings aim to offer insights for optimizing programme design and implementation, thus enhancing the sustainability and growth of small farmers in competitive markets.
